Filing period opens July 15, 2024 for BART Board of Directors
The filing period opens on Monday, July 15, 2024, for persons interested in being candidates in the November 5, 2024, general election for the BART policymaking Board of Directors.
Five of the nine seats on the Board are up for election – all representing specific geographic districts in the BART District which includes Alameda, Contra Costa and San Francisco counties.
The seats which are up for election include: BART District 1, BART District 3, BART District 5, BART District 7, and BART District 9.
The District completed the Redistricting process in 2022. Please refer to the District Boundaries webpage for detailed information about District boundaries and maps.
The filing period for the election extends from Monday, July 15, 2024, through 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 9, 2024. If an incumbent does not file for re-election by August 9, 2024, the filing deadline for that seat will be extended by five days as prescribed by the California Elections Code.
Candidates must be registered voters and reside in the area they seek to represent.

For San Francisco County residents, nomination packets may be obtained and filed with the City and County of San Francisco Department of Elections, located at 1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place, City Hall, Room 48 in San Francisco, CA, (415) 554-4375.
