Edward Wright was elected to the BART Board of Directors in November 2024, representing the 9th District.
Prior to joining the BART Board, Edward led transportation policy and communications for three local legislators; served as a Transit Strategy and Communications Advisor for the SFMTA and as President of the Harvey Milk LGBTQ Democratic Club; and organized a range of political campaigns, civic and community events, marches and direct actions.
He grew up in the Midwest, where his father, grandfather, and great-grandfather all worked in the transit industry, and moved to San Francisco 14 years ago for its diversity, history of social progress, and vibrant urban life. Edward lives in SoMa with his husband Joe, dog Stella, and cat Maiqui.
District 9 is in the City and County of San Francisco, and includes the Mission, South Beach, SoMa, Mission Bay, Tenderloin, Civic Center, Pacific Heights, Western Addition, Hayes Valley, Haight Ashbury, Castro, Inner Sunset, Twin Peaks, Noe Valley, Dogpatch, Potrero Hill, Bernal Heights, Glen Park, Portola, Excelsior, Crocker-Amazon, and Visitacion Valley neighborhoods.
District 9 BART Stations include: 16th St Mission, 24th St Mission, Embarcadero (shared with District 8), Civic Center/UN Plaza, Glen Park (shared with District 8), Montgomery (shared with District 8), and Powell Street (shared with District 8).
