About the Parking Payment Transition
On November 1, 2023, parking payment methods at Hercules Park & Ride transitioned to a new system on the official BART app and website. Past parking payments were discontinued on October 31, 2023, and no account information transferred over.
What is different?
Parking prices remain the same. However, the way you pay is different. Starting November 1, 2023, you must pay for parking on the official BART app or on BART’s website.
Parking payment verification is license-plate based, so there is no need to print anything out or display anything on your dashboard. You can recycle your old hang tags and ID cards.
The joint monthly parking permit and monthly WestCAT bus pass was discontinued as of November 1, 2023. Customers will need to purchase these separately, and no discount will be provided.
How do I pay for parking using the official BART app?
Download the official BART app from the Apple App Store or on Google Play. See step-by-step guide for how to create an account on the official BART app, and how to purchase reserved parking. Select “Hercules Park & Ride” on the station drop-down menu. Credit/debit, Venmo, and Paypal are accepted.
How do I pay for parking using the BART website?
Go to parking.bart.gov and follow simple steps to buy reserved parking for your desired timeframe. Credit/debit, Venmo, and Paypal are accepted. Your BART parking account is the same on the app and the website.
Will you still provide free bus transfers?
Yes. Those purchasing single/multi-day reserved parking will still be able to get a free roundtrip WestCAT bus ride to the El Cerrito del Norte BART station. Lynx service is not included; separate fares and payments are required for transportation on the Lynx direct-to-San Francisco bus service.
Can I still use my commuter benefits to pay for parking?
Yes, you can continue to use commuter benefits (typically administered through Health Equity/Wage Works or Edenred) to purchase monthly parking in the future. To use commuter benefits, you must have benefits loaded on a debit card in advance.
