BART adds trains, opens early for May 20th Bay To Breakers Race

Extra trains also on deck for baseball fans

BART will provide special service for the world-famous Bay to Breakers race in San Francisco on Sunday, May 20th. Most trains will begin running two hours earlier than the regular 8 a.m. Sunday starting time.

BART will provide train service from all East Bay stations, Millbrae and Daly City stations to downtown San Francisco stations beginning at about 6 a.m. Those stations will open about thirty minutes before the departure of the first trains to allow plenty of time for passengers to buy tickets.

EMBARCADERO & MONTGOMERY STREET BOTH CONVENIENT
Because the Bay to Breakers race attracts thousands of runners and fans BART encourages riders to avoid overcrowding by using either the Embarcadero or Montgomery Street stations, which are just a short distance from Howard and Spear streets, the starting point of the race.

MORE TIPS FOR RUNNERS
BART also suggests runners buy two one-way tickets -one before heading to the race and the other before catching the train home -rather than a single round-trip ticket. Wet or damaged tickets will not work in faregates so keeping a round-trip ticket in one's pocket while running seven miles is not a good idea. One-way tickets will be available at a ticket table at Dublin/Pleasanton Station (see below for more information).

BART reminds Runners that shoes and proper attire are required on BART despite the "anything goes" attitude of the famous race. There is no eating or drinking in the stations or on the trains so BART officials ask that runners do their "pre-race carbo-loading" before arriving at the stations. BART will not permit bicycles on the early Bay to Breakers trains.

TICKET TABLE FOR RUNNERS, BASEBALL FANS
BART officials will set up a ticket table at Dublin/Pleasanton Station from 5:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. BART riders will be able to avoid lines at ticket machines and buy round-trip flash passes to San Francisco for the Bay to Breakers and also round-trip flash passes to Coliseum/Oakland Airport Station for Sunday's Giants/A's game. Both round-trip and one-way blue tickets to San Francisco will also be available at the ticket table.

BART ADDING SERVICE FOR BAY BRIDGE BASEBALL SERIES
BART will run longer trains for baseball fans attending the 1:05 p.m. Giants/A's game Sunday at the Coliseum in Oakland. Additional trains will be available at the conclusion of the game to take fans home.
