Earthquake safety work to limit parking at Rockridge Station
Dear Customer:
Construction crews will soon resume earthquake safety work here at Rockridge Station. The work, which is similar to the construction that was completed late last year, will strengthen aerial structures against earthquakes. To complete the column retrofits we will need to temporarily close some daily fee parking spaces. We will reopen these spaces as soon as the work is completed.
Starting in early March, crews will construct temporary enclosures around columns. This work will take place in four stages for approximately two to three weeks per stage. We expect that it will take approximately three months to complete this phase of the Earthquake Safety project along the North Oakland aerial structures. Construction Work Details
- Description: Constructing temporary enclosures, overhead retrofitting, and protecting utilities and equipment
- Location: 14 columns in the western permit parking area
- Start Date: Early March 2010
- Duration: Approximately three months
- Hours: 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM Monday through Saturday
- Emergency work as necessary
When we are done with the overhead work in the western lot, we will begin retrofitting the foundations of the columns. In order to lessen impacts to parking, we will do the foundation work in three stages. During this phase of the work we will offer assisted parking to offset the loss of some daily fee parking spaces. We will provide detailed information in advance of all work.
