More parking lot changes upcoming at MacArthur Station
Beginning March 16th, the southeastern portion of the MacArthur BART Station parking lot which has been closed for construction will reopen for daily self-parking. Once the southeastern parking area is reopened, an area within the northeastern parking lot will close for approximately 6 weeks for additional soil remediation work. During this time, the eastern parking lot driveway to and from 40th Street will be closed and the exit to West MacArthur Blvd. will reopen. Download the passenger bulletin (.pdf) for a map.
In addition, contractors will also build a new access ramp between the parking lot and 40th Street for access to the Station. This ramp will provide an accessible connection from the parking lot to 40th Street and will also serve as the primary access path between the parking lot and MacArthur Station during later phases of construction.
As noted in earlier bulletins, the Apgar parking lot access is closed and will not reopen. The West MacArthur Blvd parking lot entrance and exit has also been closed; however southbound vehicular, bicycle and pedestrian access will remain open for several more months until the next phase of the transit village construction. As noted above, an exit from the parking lot to West MacArthur Blvd. will reopen during the period when the eastern parking lot driveway to and from 40th Street is closed.
Given the increased number of self parking stalls, the assisted parking operation will end when the southeastern portion of the parking lot opens on March 16th. Please note that the assisted parking operation will come back later in the year when construction begins on the first residential housing project.
We will continue to issue additional bulletins regarding construction improvements to update you about upcoming changes.
