BART to hold more Senior Clipper outreach events
BART is holding events to distribute free Senior Clipper cards. Two of the events will be:
Thursday, April 11, 2013
Richmond BART Station
1700 Nevin Avenue
Richmond CA
7:00 am to 7:00 pm
and
Thursday, April 18, 2013
Berkeley BART Station
2160 Shattuck Avenue
Berkeley, CA
7:00 am to 7:00 pm
The green Senior BART ticket is being replaced by the Senior Clipper card. Clipper is an all-in-one transit card that keeps track of multiple passes, ride books or tickets (which are specific to the transit system being used), as well as up to $300 in cash value at one time, while applying all applicable fares, discounts and transfer rules.
While the Clipper card is free, IT HAS NO CASH VALUE UNTIL YOU ADD IT. You may add cash value to your Clipper card at a Clipper retailer such as Walgreens or at any BART station. BART ticket vending machines now accept cash, credit and debit cards as payment for the cash value added to your Clipper card. The cash stored on your Senior Clipper card can be used to ride any Clipper-enabled transit system such as BART, AC Transit, SF Muni, SamTrans, CalTrain, VTA, Golden Gate Bus & Ferries and SF Bay Ferries.
You must be 65 years or older to apply for the card. You must apply for a Senior Clipper card in person. You may apply for the free Senior Clipper card at this event. The Senior Clipper Card will be issued immediately. Please bring one of the following forms of identification as accepted as proof of your eligibility: Birth Certificate, Driver's license issued by any state, Identification card issued by any state, Alien Registration/Permanent Resident Card, Matricula Consular/Consular Identification Card, Passport, SF City ID Card, Military/Dependent ID card with Date of Birth, Medical Benefit Card with Date of Birth.
The ticket kiosks at Berkeley BART Station and Richmond BART Station have been closed and the kiosk at Coliseum/Oakland Airport Station is also closing on April 12, 2013.
