Pleasant Hill/Contra Costa Centre earthquake safety work update

Update 2/28/14: The work will now proceed intermittently from the end of February until June 2014 between the hours of 9pm and 6am.

As part of our systemwide Earthquake Safety Program, BART is in the process of strengthening Pleasant Hill/Contra Costa Centre Station to withstand future earthquakes. The contractor is moving into a new phase of work to attach the steel truss systems to the columns inside the concourse area. This work will involve intermittent closure of some fare gates as well as periodic closure of the public restrooms and escalators.

For safety reasons some of the strengthening work will need to take place at night when the station is not open. Night work may occur between 9 pm and 6 am starting mid-December 2013 and will continue intermittently through February 2014. Download a .pdf of this bulletin here.
