BART Police ask for public’s help identifying shooting suspect

BART Police released four surveillance photos (below) today of the suspect in the fatal shooting that occurred Saturday night on board a train at the West Oakland Station. At a press conference, Chief Kenton Rainey said he was releasing the photos after working with other law enforcement partners to help identify the suspect and is now asking for the public’s assistance. The four photos taken by BART’s security system show an adult male, matching the description provided by eyewitnesses, leaving the West Oakland Station right after the shooting occurred.
Anyone with information about the suspect or the shooting is asked to call BART Police’s anonymous tip line at 510-464-7011 or one of the detectives in charge of the case at 510-464-7040- ask for Detective Sanchez or Sergeant Power.
The male victim has yet to be identified because he had no identifying information. The victim is likely between the ages of 19-25, possibly Latino with black hair. Chief Rainey said it is still unknown the relationship, if any, between the victim and the suspect. Chief Rainey confirmed a knife was recovered at the scene.
