BART running longer trains for the Big Game - Stanford at Cal

BART will run longer trains through Berkeley on Saturday, November 20, for the 113th playing of a classic rivalry known as the Big Game -- the football matchup between the Cal Bears and Stanford Cardinal.

The game is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. at Memorial Stadium in Berkeley. Fans can avoid the hassles of traffic and parking on game day by taking BART, which will also operate special event trains as needed to accommodate crowds.

Caltrain is encouraging fans on the Peninsula to take its hourly weekend service and transfer to BART at the Millbrae Intermodal Station, which offers a cross-platform connection. BART reminds riders transferring at Millbrae that in case of long lines at ticket machines on the lower level, BART ticket machines are also available on the upper level. And remember to buy a roundtrip ticket to avoid lines after the game, or get an electronic Clipper card (www.clippercard.com) and don't have to deal with ticket machines at all.

Another tip for avoiding lines at the end of the game is to stick around and enjoy the restaurants, shops and other activities of downtown Berkeley until the crowds clear out.
