Work on intermodal bus facility at Pleasant Hill to require detour

Beginning November 7, 2009, construction crews will start work on new intersection at Coggins and D streets, which will require a detour of auto traffic at the Pleasant Hill BART Station.  Download the map (.pdf) to help guide you through the detour.   Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the road closure and temporary detour. This work is necessary to complete the newly rebuilt Coggins Intermodal Bus Facility at Pleasant Hill Station so we may open it to transit users.

Temporary Road Closure Will Affect Passenger Drop-Off Area
As a necessary step to finalize construction of the intermodal bus facility, we will need to close the road currently used by many customers for passenger drop-off for approximately two weeks while construction crews rebuild the intersection. During that time we will temporarily relocate the passenger drop off zone to the current taxi location on Wayne Drive and inside the parking garage.

New Bus Stops in November
Construction of sidewalks and landscaping of the East side of the intermodal facility may change where you catch your bus.  We will place signage with bus stop information and BART and the bus operators will have personnel in the field, all to help guide you.  We suggest that you allow a few extra minutes to make your bus connection.

Coggins Intermodal Bus Facility Opens in January
The Coggins Intermodal Bus Facility will open for full operation in early January.  Once complete, the Coggins Intermodal Bus Facility will provide improved connectivity between BART and other regional transit operators. The construction work is part of the improvements associated with the adjacent Transit Village project.

We thank you in advance for your cooperation and patience during the construction. We will continue to keep you informed by providing additional passenger bulletins.  If you have any questions about the project or this passenger bulletin, please call (510) 464-6428.
