All trains at Millbrae will use the same platform for improved BART to Caltrain transfers starting March 22

Starting Monday, March 22nd, BART trains will arrive and depart at Millbrae Station from Platform 3, the one closest to Caltrain at the station. This significant improvement will allow riders at Millbrae to cross the same platform to transfer instead of the previous walk up and through the concourse. BART and Caltrain transfer times and wayfinding at the station will also receive improvements. BART and Caltrain planners are collaborating with each other detailed scheduling plans to build the best possible connections for the two systems.

Another positive change that begins March 22 is that on weekdays, trains from Richmond will now have a one-seat ride to SFO (via Millbrae) instead of requiring a transfer at MacArthur.  This change means SFO is effectively the terminal station for both the Yellow and Red Lines on weekdays beginning March 22. On weekdays, southbound Red line trains (Richmond to Millbrae-SFO) will be labelled "Millbrae-SFO." Trains will travel from Richmond to Millbrae, then SFO, then Millbrae and back to Richmond.  

These improvements for Millbrae riders are part of a BART schedule change beginning on March 22nd. BART is preparing for the potential of increased ridership as counties begin to reopen. The new schedule will allow us to add 26 additional trips where ridership data shows more trains are needed to provide for social distancing. BART will add these new trips when train car loading data shows there are consistently more than 30 people per car on a train. Service hours will remain unchanged, however BART will be closely monitoring ridership and demand as the region reopens.
