Elevator Outage Options

In case of an elevator outage, use the following options or contact the station agent for assistance. Agents can arrange a ride to a different station in an accessible van if needed. 

STREET ELEVATOR 

  • Can't enter station:   Walk, roll, or take Muni to access the Powell St. station street elevator at Market and Ellis Street (0.5 miles).
  • Can't exit station:  Continue on BART to exit at another station. The closest station is Powell St. (0.5 miles).

PLATFORM ELEVATOR 

  • Can't enter station:   Walk, roll, or take Muni to access the Powell St. station street elevator at Market and Ellis Street (0.5 miles).
  • Can't exit station:  Continue on BART to exit at another station. The closest station is Powell St. (0.5 miles).

 

Entering Civic Center Station

There are three levels below the street at Civic Center/UN Plaza Station. The first level is the concourse. The second level is the train platforms for boarding the Muni trains. The third level is the train platforms for boarding BART trains.

Two separate elevators are needed to get from the street to the BART train platform.

The street elevator is located on Market Street between 8th Street and 7th Street. Press “C” for concourse level.

On the concourse level, head South to the middle of the concourse outside the paid area. The train platform elevator will be to your right.  

The train platform elevator will take you down two levels: The second level is to the Muni train platform and the third level is to the BART train platform. The train platform elevator buttons are labeled "C" for Concourse, "M" for Muni and "BA" for the BART Platform.

At the BART train platform level, you will be at the far end of the platform. San Francisco, San Francisco Airport (SFO), Millbrae bound trains will be to your right and Richmond, Pittsburg/Bay Point, Dublin/Pleasanton, Warm Springs/South Fremont bound trains will be to your left.

Exiting Civic Center Station

The train platforms at Civic Center/UN Plaza Station are on located on the third level below the street.

Two separate elevators are needed to get from the train platform to the street.

Exiting from San Francisco Airport (SFO), Millbrae bound trains, the elevator will be at the front of the train at the far end of the platform. Press “C” for concourse level and you will go up two levels to the concourse level passing the Muni level.

Exiting from East Bay bound trains, the elevator will be at the rear of the train at the far end of the platform.  Press “C” for concourse level and you will go up two levels to the concourse level passing the Muni level.

On the concourse level, head North where the street elevator is located outside the paid area. Press “S” for street level.

When exiting the street elevator, you will be on Market Street between 8th Street and 7th Street.
