Elevator Outage Options
In case of an elevator outage, use the following options or contact the station agent for assistance. Agents can arrange a ride to a different station in an accessible van if needed.
PLATFORM 1 ELEVATOR (RICHMOND DIRECTION)
- Can't enter station: Take the Platform 2 elevator to the opposite platform and go back to North Berkeley to board desired train.
- Can't exit station: Continue on BART to El Cerrito del Norte and return to El Cerrito Plaza. Exit using Platform 2 elevator.
PLATFORM 2 ELEVATOR (BERRYESSA, SFO/MILLBRAE/DALY CITY DIRECTION)
- Can't enter station: Take Platform 1 elevator to the opposite platform and go back to El Cerrito del Norte to board desired train.
- Can't exit station: Continue on BART to North Berkeley and return to El Cerrito Plaza. Exit using Platform 1 elevator.
Entering El Cerrito Plaza Station
The train platforms at El Cerrito Plaza Station are located on a raised platform. Concourse is on the street level.
There are two separate elevators for Richmond bound trains or Berryessa/North San José, San Francisco bound trains. Travel approximately 110 feet heading North from the paid area. Berryessa/North San José, San Francisco bound trains elevator to your left and Richmond bound trains elevator to your right. Press "P" for train platform level.
At the train platform level, from either elevator, you will be approximately at the end of the platform. The elevator doors open away from the tracks.
A prototype fare gate now encloses both elevators at the platform level to bring the elevator into the paid area.
Exiting El Cerrito Plaza Station
The train platforms at the El Cerrito Plaza Station are on located on a raised platform one level above the street.
There are two separate elevators for either Richmond bound trains or Berryessa/North San José, San Francisco bound located approximately at the far end of the train platform. Press “S” for street level.
When exiting from either elevator, travel approximately 110 feet heading South towards the paid area.
