19th Street Station canopy entrance closed for improvements starting 3/14/2022
UPDATE 6-13-2022: The canopy entrance was reopened to the public today. The article below was originally posted on 3-02-22.
As part of our modernization project at 19th Street Oakland Station, we will close the northeast canopy-covered entrance to the station at the corner of 20th Street and Broadway beginning Monday, March 14, 2022 (see map). The entrance will be closed for approximately 3 months so crews can install the infrastructure for a new station agent booth and fare gates and make repairs to terrazzo flooring. BART will reopen the entrance directly across the street on Broadway prior to closing the canopy entrance. There will be no access to Clipper card purchasing machines on the north end of the station while the work takes place. Riders can purchase Clipper cards at machines located in the center of the station (see yellow star on map).
Temporary wayfinding signs will be installed at the street and concourse levels to guide riders to open entrances. Plywood barriers will be installed around the work areas inside of the station to keep riders and staff safe from construction activities.
Other improvements being made at 19th Street Station as part of the modernization project include renovation and re-opening of the public restrooms, the installation of a new concourse-to-platform elevator, ceiling painting throughout the entire station, new concourse, platform and trackway lighting and new glass fare barriers.
We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your patience.
